Julie & Greg got ready for their wedding day at The Thayer Hotel, designated “Historic Hotel of America,” boasting Gothic Revival architecture. This hotel has hosted five US presidents & the unique blend of historic charm, modern amenities, and proximity to the Storm King Art Center Museum makes it a perfect location.
Julie & Greg planned a soft first look at The Thayer Hotel; the grounds of The Thayer Hotel offer a stunning view of the Hudson River & historic military sites. After documenting their first look & a few portraits, we headed to Storm King Art Center.
Storm King Art Center in the Hudson Valley offers outdoor wedding & reception options. The museum features unique sculptures that can serve as a blank canvas for weddings.
Imagine exchanging vows with Alexander Calder’s vibrant “The Tree” as your silent witness or capturing your wedding portraits under the awe-inspiring gaze of Menashe Kadishman’s suspended art installation. Storm King’s sculptures weren’t just decorations; they were integral characters in Julie and Greg’s love story.
There are so many incredible installations at the Storm King Art Center; our favorites were the Iliad, Suspended, Pyramidian & the iconic columns. As a New York wedding photographer, Storm King Art Center provides many opportunities for creative expression in wedding portraits juxtaposed against the impressive sculptures, installations & textures. It truly is one of the most visually stunning wedding venues in the Hudson Valley.
Julie & Greg signed a gorgeous Ketubah surrounded by their loved ones, followed by a Jewish wedding ceremony underneath a Chuppah overlooking the wide landscapes. The panoramic views of the Hudson Highlands made an incredible backdrop for their wedding ceremony, held outdoors at the top of a rolling hill juxtaposed against the Pyramidian by Mark di Suvero, a stunning sight to behold.
The wedding reception was held in an open-air tent with a live band setting the night’s tone. The couple shared their first dance & after a few heartfelt toasts, the reception dance floor was open for the wedding guests! The best part of photographing Jewish wedding receptions is the hora (also known as the horah); there are so many incredible memories for our couple to cherish forever!
Julie and Greg’s Jewish wedding ceremony was a testament to the magic that unfolds when nature, art, and love collide. The day transcended the ordinary, leaving memories as timeless and inspiring as the sculptures that witnessed their vows.
